From waste to specification fuel — four steps.
The core challenge in biocrude is upgrading: removing oxygen, reducing acidity and hitting the tight specification windows required for marine and aviation fuels. This is where Axiom operates.
Feedstock Intake
Agricultural residues, forestry waste and compatible organic streams are received, sorted and pre-treated to ensure consistent biocrude quality.
Biocrude Conversion
Hydrothermal liquefaction (Licella Cat-HTR™) converts wet biomass into raw biocrude oil — a dense, energy-rich liquid requiring further upgrading.
Axiom Upgrading
Advanced catalytic hydroprocessing removes oxygen, reduces acidity and adjusts the hydrocarbon profile to match fuel specifications for each output stream.
Fractionation & Blending
Output is separated into marine bunker, biodiesel and SAF streams, each meeting the relevant ISO, ASTM and IATA quality standards.
World-class technology. Industrial-scale partners.
Licella / Arbios — Cat-HTR™
Proprietary hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL). World's largest HTL plant now operating at Arbios Chuntoh Ghuna, Prince George BC, Canada. Wet biomass in → biocrude out. Proven at commercial scale.
Advanced Catalytic Hydroprocessing
The most commercially proven biocrude upgrading pathway available. Hydrodeoxygenation and hydrocracking transform raw biocrude into specification SAF, light naphtha and marine diesel. Licensing engagement with established technology licensors underway.
Major IOC Validation
A major international oil company independently confirmed biocrude specification and product yields — March 2026. SAF at 65 vol%, naphtha 30%, diesel 5%. ASTM D-4054 certification pathway identified and active.
Per 35,000 DAF tonnes of biocrude input, per plant.
Independent validation of product yields and quality specifications by a major IOC, completed March 2026.
